Dr. Kate Hammel

Instructional Implementation Coach

Dr. Kate Hammel has more than a decade of experience as an educator. She began her career teaching fourth grade in the Haverhill (MA) Public Schools system. In 2021, she earned her doctoral degree from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), with her dissertation, Compassion Fatigue: It’s A Part Of A Teacher’s Lived Experience Whether It Is A Global Pandemic Or Not. A thought leader in her field, Kate has also co-authored the chapter Compassion Fatigue: Taking Care of the Caretaker in the peer-reviewed book Health and Wellbeing in the Middle Grades: Research for Effective Middle Level Education. She has presented her findings at the American Education Research Association (AERA) 2022 Annual Meeting in San Diego, as well as at Southern New Hampshire University and Merrimack College. 

She continues to share her knowledge and understanding leading workshops on self-care, compassion fatigue, and resilience for faculty and staff. In addition to her work at Supported EDU, Kate serves as a Program Supervisor for student teachers at Merrimack College, guiding the next generation of educators with her expertise and passion for teaching.

On a more personal note, Kate is a wife and mom to two boys and a dog. She grew up in New England and enjoys all four seasons, but especially ones that involve the beach!
